Restoran Foon Lock sits just off the main road in Bukit Tinggi, Bentong, offering a straightforward, no-frills dining experience centered on classic Chinese dishes with a local twist. It’s the kind of place favored by families and groups looking for hearty, familiar flavors rather than fancy presentations. The setting is clean and practical, with a casual vibe that suits weekend lunches or relaxed dinners after a drive along the expressway.

The restaurant specializes in straightforward homemade-style dishes, with highlights like steamed fish in soy sauce, minced meat bean curd, and steamed kampung (village) chicken. Portions tend to be generous, making the spot suited for sharing across the table. Vegetable dishes often feel freshly picked, reflecting the proximity to local farms, which adds a subtle charm to the meal without fuss.

On busy weekends, expect the space to fill up, especially in the afternoons. Parking along the narrow main road can be challenging, so it’s worth using the available parking behind the restaurant if you want a smoother arrival. Staff tend to be approachable and kid-friendly, which supports a family-oriented environment.

Those who appreciate Cantonese-style noodles or dishes featuring fresh river prawns will find familiar flavors here, though some favorites can lean towards milder seasoning. The menu also features some local Bentong specialties and wild boar curries, giving a nod to regional tastes that pair well with simpler staples like fried rice and claypot port ribs with yam.

Overall, Restoran Foon Lock presents a grounded alternative to flashier eateries nearby, emphasizing honest cooking and local ingredients. It’s well-suited for visitors who value straightforward, filling meals without the pretense—ideal for a casual meal after exploring Bentong or on your way through the area.

Tried their ginger fish mian xian here. Really good and my mother sang high praises. Very rich in ginger. Fish used is mystery fish. We ordered the patin fish, very fresh like fish just died. Tried the guangdong taufu pork - just ok. We also ordered some bentong specialty vegetable. Fresh like just plucked from farm Full house when we came on Saturday afternoon. But friendly owner helped us clear a table to wait by. Nearby markets in surroundings selling plenty of vegetable, luncheon meat, keropok, etc. wife had a blast. Parking is a bit challenging here especially on weekend. I parked illegally and almost got a ticket.

Their signature menu, Cantonese style noodles with river prawn is really delicious, fresh and huge size river prawn. However, the steam mihun with ginger paste chicken not tasty as expected, taste mild. Difficult to get parking at this area.

This place is clean and tidy. The prices here is also much lower compared to the famous neighbouring stall next to it. The staff are kids friendly.. the fried rice is nice. The pork belly is a must try

Local zhi char restaurant just off the expressway. Portion sizes quite good. Patin fish steamed with soya sauce and thai style chicken are good. Park behind the restaurant because there's no space on the narrow main road in front. Fruit and vegetable stores in front.

We stop here whenever we can for a meal. Ginger soup with fresh water prawns is amazing. Crispy pork dish is as crispy as bacon. They have an option to have the pork with wantan noodles (kids will love this). Overall, the vegetables are fresh, seafood is great and the prices are very reasonable. Prices are all clearly displayed on the menu and the staff are all so friendly even though the restaurant was packed and busy.
